"I am a citizen just like you. I see what is happening in our state, and we need to find ways to feel safe in our communities. As a new father, I want to ensure our kids can go to school to learn—not fear for their lives. I want to help those with mental illness get the help the need before a crisis and I want to protect individuals in our community from illegal searches and seizures.

There is a lot of good in Minnesota, which is why my wife and I chose to raise a family here. However, it is important that we continue moving forward. We need to create more living-wage jobs, and we need to return to a time when working together for our neighbors is a priority. I know how to get things done, and I look forward to the privilege of working for you. Together, let’s build a great, big, beautiful tomorrow here in Minnesota.”

ISSUES
Education

Our students are our future, and we must ensure they are provided with the best education possible, along with all the resources they need. Minnesotans are fortunate to have an excellent education system. According to U.S. News & World Report, Minnesota is ranked 13th in PreK–12 education. Justin will lead the charge to get our state back into the top 10 nationally and will work directly to provide more options for our students. He is committed to ensuring an education system that gives everyone the best opportunity as they head into college, while also bolstering technology and workforce programs—allowing students to gain hands-on experience for jobs that are in demand today.

To ensure our education system continues to improve, we need the best people in these roles, and we must incentivize educators to remain in the teaching profession. Justin will work to make Minnesota teachers the highest-paid in the country, attracting the best of the best to educate our future.

The health of students in our schools must also be a top priority. Student-athletes are required to complete a physical each year to ensure they are ready to compete; however, those physicals do not include an EKG/ECG. Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among student-athletes in the United States. Justin will introduce legislation requiring heart testing for children before they take the field.

Safety

Justin has worked for the State of Minnesota for the last few years, seeing firsthand how law enforcement works hard to keep us safe. In his role working directly with body cameras and the release of information to the public, he has worked tirelessly to ensure transparency in our state. That is what he aims to do as your representative. Justin believes that if federal officers conduct operations in our communities, they must be transparent, identify themselves, and provide documentation for their actions.

We cannot have a force operating on our streets that is not regulated in any way, and we cannot allow any group in this country to have blanket immunity. Justin will fight for transparency in all law enforcement operations in the state of Minnesota, just as he has done for the last several years.

Beyond this, we must ensure that shootings in schools and against members of the public are prevented. To accomplish this, Justin believes we need to expand access to mental health programs, ensuring people receive the help they need before a crisis occurs.

Finally, we must continue the work of Representative Kaela Berg to limit firearm straw purchases in the state. Justin would also advocate for a required gun safety class before obtaining a permit to purchase a firearm. Mental health support and gun safety education are critical to reducing gun violence, and we need responsible, educated gun owners in our state.

Transportation

Restructuring our infrastructure is key to moving Minnesota forward. We must ensure our bridges are up to date and guarantee that our roads are properly maintained and safe for all residents. Justin believes in the future of transportation and is committed to ensuring everyone has a safe and efficient way to get around.

Justin understands that public transportation is essential as Minnesota moves into the future. Bus routes must have sufficient stops throughout the district. Justin will work in the State House to assist in any way needed with the execution of the Burnsville Bus Garage renovations; this project uses funds acquired by U.S. Representative Angie Craig.

Justin also believes the metro system should continue to expand into the Twin Cities suburbs, and that our roads must be prepared for a future in which self-driving cars become more commonplace. It is imperative that we move forward with the transportation methods of tomorrow while keeping people safe, and Justin plans to work toward improving the daily commute for everyone in this district.

Economy and Government Assistance

First and foremost, we must ensure that jobs in Minnesota pay a livable wage. While job creation is a priority for our state, Justin believes we should not focus solely on increasing job numbers, but on providing jobs that serve as long-term careers. He does not want to present reports that suggest we are succeeding while many people are forced to work two or three jobs just to survive. Justin wants to create an environment where businesses can thrive and citizens can build careers that allow them to support their families.

We must continue assistance programs for those who need help. It is essential to ensure that individuals with disabilities have their programs fully funded so we can better support our neighbors in need. Additionally, we must continue funding free meals for students throughout the state. We also need to ensure that properly run daycare providers receive support from the state so childcare remains affordable for all Minnesotans. Know that a vote for Justin will keep Minnesota’s tax dollars in our state and help those who just need a little extra support.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly; Justin believes homes are for people not corporations. The more citizens who can afford homes in this country, the more people will care about their community. We need to bring down the cost of single family homes, and to do that Justin will push for Minnesota to be the first state banning corporations from buying homes. Our houses are for our people, and this push will benefit everyone in our community.
